The German container shipping operator Hamburg Sud was evaluated with gold level by the supply chain sustainability network EcoVadis. This is the high highest-possible recognition level of EcoVadis, based on detailed survey of the shipping group in areas of corporate social responsibilty (CSR) and sustainability. The company showed perfect rating in all audited categories, including Labor Practices and Human Rights, Fair Business Practices, Environment and Sustainable Procurement. This new award for the German container shipping operator shows its attempt to implement the latest technologies in marine industry and shipbuilding, reducing the energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
Hamburg Sud showed great performance in Environment category, by setting a new benchmark in the industry sector with highest score of 90 points. The company recorded significant successes in reaching its self-imposed environmental target to lower CO2 emissions by 45% until 2020.
The gold level award comes a few days after Hamburg Sud was awarded with Ocean Supplier of the Year 2015. CEVA, which is one of the world’s leading non-asset-based supply chain management companies, recognized company’s exceptional services at a global and local level.
