The accident happened in the UK responsibility zone, as both vessels were proceeding on crossing routes at dense fog. The general cargo ship hit the port board of the fishing vessel and almost capsized it. The fishing ship Antaeus suffered serious damages, but remained afloat and managed to reach French port Douamenez under own power, while the general cargo vessel got only some dents are proceeded voyage to Antwerp. The UK and France authorities launched an separate investigations for the root cause of the collision.

According to the witness evidences from the fishermen on board of the ship Antaeus, after the collision the vessel was close to capsizing under the impact of collision. Fortunately there were no injured people and no water pollution after the accident.
