Sunk fishing boatThe general cargo ship Duy Phat 25 sunk fishing boat BD 96271 off Quang Ngai, Vietnam. The ship was proceeding through South China sea during the night and collided with the small boat near Vietnamese province. The boat was not well marked and duty officer of general cargo ship Duy Phat 25 did not have enough time for reaction and make late maneuvering. After collision the boat suffered damages and capsized, but all the seven crew were rescued by the general cargo ship and taken on board. All the fishermen were in good health and without serious injuries, transported to Quy Nhom port where will be held the investigation.

The seven troubled fishermen were taken to the hospital for medical examination and treatment, but later released. The local authorities started investigation and took witness evidences from the general cargo ship’s crew and fishermen. According to the preliminary information the responsible for the collision was duty officer of the general cargo ship Duy Phat 25, but further investigation will show if fishing boat has navigation lights and was operating according to the rules.

The general cargo ship Duy Phat 25 (IMO: 8664747) has overall length of 70.00 m, moulded beam of 11.00 m and maximum draft of 4.50 m. The deadweight of the vessel is 1,980 DWT and the gross tonnage is 999 GRT. The ship was built in 2007 by Vinashin Nam Ha Shipyard in Nam Dinh, Vietnam. The owner and operator of the general cargo ship Duy Phat 25 is the local company Duy Phat Shipping. During the accident the vessel was under cargo of coal en route from Hai Duong to Khanh Hoa.
