Fishing ship Sandrani 3 caught fireThe fishing vessel Sandrani 3 caught fire at the anchorage off Port Louis harbor, Mauritius. The vessel is moored alongside to another fishing ship Shandrani 1. The both ships were towed away from the harbor in deep water were will be performed firefighting. The fishing vessel Sandrani 3 was unmoored from the other ship to prevent spreading of fire to Shandrani 1. The local authorities dispatched tug to assist with firefighting and after several hours the flames were put under control and fully extinguished. Fortunately during the accident there were no injured people and no water pollution.

The local authorities started investigation for the root cause of the fire. The fishing vessel Sandrani 3 was able to return to harbor after firefighting inspection. Later will be assessed the total value of the damages and the repairs needed. The ship was detained at the port and will be released after special survey of seaworthiness and safety.

The fishing vessel Sandrani 3 has overall length of 53.00 m, moulded beam of 8.00 m and maximum draft of 2.50 m. The vessel is operating under the flag of Mauritius.
