The fishing vessel Pastor Corrillo caught fire and sank on 5 nautical miles southwest off Almeria, Spain. The fire started from shortage in diesel generator, which inflamed the engineering and main deck. The crew was unable to extinguish the fire and sent distress signal to local authorities, requesting for assistance. At the scene of the accident was dispatched a firefighting tug and rescue boat of Spanish Coast Guard. All the 3 fishermen were evacuated and transported to safe without injuries. However, the fire was extended and fishing ship Pastor Corrillo capsized and sank despite of attempt for salvage.
The local authorities started investigation for the root cause of the fire. The area is monitored for any water pollution and oil leak. All the 3 crew were rescued and transported to local hospital for medical examination, but without serious injuries.
