Danish service ship Achiever collided with two pleasure boats in Germany

Service ship AchieverThe Danish service ship Achiever collided with two pleasure boats at Barhoft port in Germany. The vessel suffered mechanical failure during maneuvering to berth at the pier and drifted to the marina with many moored crafts. The service ship rammed two boats and caused sufficient damages, estimated to over 60,000 EUR. During the accident there were no injured people and no reported water pollution. The marina and other vessels did not suffered any damages, but authorities will make an inspection of all facilities to ensure safety. The service ship Achiever was berthed at the pier without only slight damages, but was detained for repair and inspection of the engine and propulsion system

The investigation for the root cause of the accident is under way. The damaged boats remained afloat, but suffered breaches above the waterline, as well as serious broken railings and equipment.

The service ship Achiever (IMO: 9634127) has overall length of 20.00 m, moulded beam of 8.00 m and maximum draft of 1.50 m. The deadweight of the vessel is 25 DWT and the gross tonnage is 101 GRT. The service ship was built in 2011 by Grovfjord Mekaniske Verksted shipyard in Norway.
