The Iranian cargo dhow ship Al Zaman capsized and sank in Arabian sea on 96 nautical miles off Ras Al Hadd, Oman. The vessel was operating as coaster in Arabian sea, but after cargo shift started listing and finally sank. All the 15 Iranian crew abandoned the vessel into a life raft and were later requested by the joint SAR operation from Oman Coast Guard and British Royal Navy. An Omani Maritime aircraft dropped lifebuoys to the sailors. There are no reports about serious injuries from the crew, but the cargo dhow ship Al Zaman sank. The seamen from the vessel were transported to the shore and hospitalized for medical examinations and treatment, but later all were sent home.
The local authorities started investigation for the root cause of the accident. There is no report about water pollution, but authorities are monitoring the area for oil leaks from the fuel tanks of the freighter.
