Aker Solutions received order for construction and delivery of the longest umbilicals system at the Zohr offshore gas field in the Egyptian offshore zone of Mediterranean Sea. The contractor is Petrobel, which is joint venture between Italian oil giant Eni and Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation. The total worth of the purchase order is 122 million USD and work will be held by subsea division of Aker Solutions in Oslo, while manufacturing will start immediately at the umbilicals plant in Moss, Norway. The delivery of the giant umbilicals system is scheduled for mid-April 2017.
“Aker Solutions is building on its previous experience offshore Egypt to now deliver its largest-ever umbilicals project”, said the chief executive officer of Aker Solutions, Luis Araujo. “We are very pleased to support Petrobel and Egypt on this important development”, added he.
The steel tube umbilicals construction will have length of 180 km and will connect Zohr subsea development to an offshore control platform.
Aker Solutions ASA is a Norwegian oil services company based in Oslo, which provides oilfield products, systems and services worldwide for customers in the oil and gas industry. Last years the company invested substantially in the Moss facility, which is dedicated specially for building of umbilicals system with modern technologies and large capacity. This is important contract for Aker Solutions, which suffer for reduced orders and revenues on the background of offshore crisis. The depression of the sector already cost the jobs of several hundred employees of the company.
