Coatzacoalcos, Vrz . During the dismantling process of the Quetzalcoatl ship, a fire generated by the accumulation of fuel was registered on Tuesday, which was controlled by the personnel of Mexican Petroleum and the Fierrociclaje company.

The Ministry of Civil Protection of the state confirmed that the incident was recorded at 09:30 hours, at docks 07 and 09 of the Pemex maritime terminal, located on the left bank of the Coatzacoalcos River.

The accident occurred in the process of dismantling the oil tanker “Quetzalcoatl”, which remained stranded there for 13 years.

This vessel exploded on October 18, 2006, when a welding spark reached one of the storage tanks that had not been properly emptied; Eight people died and 13 were injured.
