More than 30 teenagers fell into the sea after the yacht in which they were traveling capsized shortly after leaving the port of Chucuito, in Callao .
The youngsters were in the water for more than an hour until they were rescued by Coast Guard personnel of the Captaincy of Puerto del Callao.
In a dialogue with RPP Noticias , Rocío Zela, aunt of one of the victims, said that the yacht turned around after the captain made a sharp turn. According to his version, the minors were rescued thanks to the fact that they could ask for help through their cell phones.
In addition, the woman denounced that the yacht had the insurance expired, reason why the family had to assume the expenses of attention of her niece.
The adolescents, as well as six adults who accompanied them, were treated for hypothermia after staying for more than an hour at sea.
The authorities of the first port already investigate both the accident and the responsibility of the company that owns the vessel.
