The four people were travelling aboard a boat that was left without propulsion due to a mechanical failure, authorities said.

They were rescued by the Secretariat of the Navy Navy of Mexico (SEMAR), after the boat in which they travelled, was stranded 18.5 kilometers from the coast of the town of Mahahual.

It was an imemsa type vessel, named Rosy, white; which was left without propulsion due to the mechanical failure, said the users.

The rescue was in charge of the personnel belonging to the Naval Station of Search, Rescue and Maritime Vigilance (Ensar), belonging to the eleventh naval zone, which entered the open sea, in the area known as Banco Chinchorro.

According to the preliminary information, the people knew of the accident, through a report to 911, by the people who were stranded.

After the fact, the four people were transferred to the fishermen’s wharf in Mahahual, in the south of the state, where their health status was reported as favourable and subsequently left by their own means, authorities reported.
