Maritime Authority Evacuated Woman After Accident on Board of Ferry in Southern Area

“Victim suffered an uneven fall in the last rung of a ladder located in the aft sector of the ship, being, in the first instance, attended by a doctor and a nurse who were as passengers.”

Personnel of the Captaincy of Puerto de Río Negro Hornopirén had to evacuate in emergency a 73-year-old woman who had an accident aboard the “AGIOS” Ferry CA5778, while sailing from Caleta Gonzalo to Hornopirén.

The victim, identified as Rosario Pérez Parra, suffered an uneven fall in the last step of a ladder located in the aft sector of the ship, being, in the first instance, attended by a doctor and a nurse who were as passengers.

After that, the ferry captain, communicated with the Maritime Authority reporting the situation with the purpose of activating the emergency protocols and receiving the injured person.

After the arrival of the ship, the victim was taken by ambulance to the local Cesfam, where, according to the evaluation made by the doctor on duty and due to the person’s advanced age, it was decided to refer her to a health center in the city of Puerto Montt, in order to perform examinations through a scanner.

The Captaincy of Puerto de Río Negro Hornopirén, through its personnel, will maintain a constant presence in the sectors of competence of the Maritime Authority.
