FSB Has Opened Administrative Cases on the Organizers of the “Whale Prison” in Primorye

The FSB has brought administrative cases to the organizers of the “whale prison” in the Primorsky Territory, where more than a hundred killer whales and beluga whales are kept, the Center’s public relations center said on Thursday.

“On February 25, 2019, by the Border Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Primorsky Territory regarding OOO Afalina, Bely Kit, Oceanarium Far East, Sochi Dolphinarium, which carried out the extraction, transportation and storage of marine mammals in the bay of Central Primorsky Krai 11 killer whales and 87 belugas) cases of administrative offenses under part 2 of article 8.17 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the rules governing fishing, …) were instituted, ”the FSB said.

They noted that “in the course of the proceedings, expert reports were obtained indicating unsatisfactory conditions for animals, the need for their release into their natural habitat after preliminary adaptation”.
