On May 2, 2019 in Ocean City, Maryland, a group of fishermen were on an after work fishing trip and stumbled across a baby humpback whale completely tangled in a very large net. Immediately after seeing the poor baby whale, they decided to start cutting off as much of the net as they could before it got dark.
They ended up taking 3 whole hours to free the whale before the department of natural resources deemed it too dangerous to be out there with darkness and storms approaching. A few words from the man who filmed the video in explanation.
“We went on an after work flounder fishing trip. We saw some buoys moving ominously across the water. As we got closer we noticed a small humpback whale breaching the surface completely tangled in netting. We then acted as fast as we could to help the big baby.”
With the baby whale completely trapped in the net and making frustrating cries, it was a heroic deed and we’re proud of these fisherman for doing the right thing. Enjoy the video down below!
