Young Veterinarian Saves Turtle With An Injured Neck in Almenara Spain

A veterinarian of the Oceanogràfic recovers the injured Kielion in the water, a few meters from the sand.

The staff of the Oceanogràfic de Valencia rescued yesterday afternoon in the beach White House of Almenara (Castelló) a juvenile specimen of marine turtle (Caretta caretta), sighted by an individual, who warned the Local Police, that activated the protocol of action of the Stranding Network.

The rescue operation, which also involved the Civil Guard, required the veterinarian of the Oceanogràfic Foundation, Vicente Marco, to enter the water, as the young turtle was wounded in the neck and did not have the strength to reach the sand nor to win the force of the waves and go deep into the sea.

The chelonian rescued yesterday has been registered with 3,2 kilos of weight and with the number 404 it is already recovering in the Area of Recovery and Conservation of the Sea (ARCA del Mar).
