The Finnish ferry company Viking Line is carrying out the next fleet renewal. Cruise ferries Viking Grace and Amorella, connecting Turku and Stockholm, were sent to scheduled service in dry dock for this time.
January 21 Viking Grace has already returned to the route, and the Amorella ferry will be updated on February 4. In addition to the maintenance, changes have been made in the layout of the cabins and in the interiors.
For example, the ferry Amorella will receive a new type of cabins, adapted for family travelers, who received the type designation Inside Comfort and designed for three people. The cabins feature a double bed and a separate berth for a child up to 12 years old. Classic four-bed cabins will also be rebuilt and modernized.
Finland is the leader in per capita coffee consumption, and the modernization program of Viking Line takes into account even this. On the 8th deck of the Amorella ferry, a new coffee shop with varieties of coffee will appear, which were not offered to the passengers of the ferry earlier. And as a full-fledged support for the coffee component of the cruises, Amorella will receive an additional confectionery for fresh baked goods (similar to the ferries Mariella and Gabriella).
Viking Grace, as the newest fleet ferry, has not been updated so drastically. Changes for the most part cosmetic: new furniture in the restaurant ala carte and a new interior of the duty-free shop on board – the largest on the North Baltic. In addition, merchandising Viking Line decided to expand the clothing department.
“Every two years, every ferry, without exception, undergoes mandatory maintenance in dry dock. This allows for large-scale interior changes during the parking, without compromising the comfort of passengers. Such a time interval allows us to respond in a timely manner to the demand and trends of the cruise market, “explains Valpuri Myakinen, the manager of the Turku-Stockholm route of Viking Line.
The process of fleet renewal is continuous. In 2017, the company modernized the cruise ferries Mariella and Viking XPRS, and in 2016 significant improvements were made to the ferry Gabriella.
