They Seize More Than 7,000 Kilos of Cocaine at Colombian-Ecuadorian Border

The Police Dijin together with the Anti-Drug Agency (DEA), United States Coast Guard Units and the Counter-Narcotics Investigation Unit (UIAN) of Ecuador, seized 7317 kilograms of cocaine.

The operations were registered by sea in Ecuador and Mexico.

The first operation was carried out on behalf of the United States Coast Guard, who found a fishing vessel with a Mexican flag, which contained 5240 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.

The investigations allowed to determine that the seized narcotic drug belongs to a criminal organization that has its production point located on the Colombian-Ecuadorian border.

Similarly, in Ecuadorian territory, the authorities seized 2077 kilos of cocaine, which were found inside two tractor truck vehicles. Because of these events, two people of Colombian nationality were captured.

The seized material was made available to the Attorney General’s Office for the respective destruction process, while the detainees will be presented before a judge and prosecuted for the crime of drug trafficking.
