US Secretary of Defense James Mattis will visit San Diego harbour on Monday to observe training exercises.
The Secretary of Defense of the United States, James Mattis, will visit the port of San Diego on Monday, prior to his trip to New Delhi and Abu Dhabi.
James Mattis will observe training exercises for an aircraft carrier attack group, although Navy and Defense Department officials did not disclose details about the training, the groups will participate in the practice, or at what distance from the port of San Diego the training.
It was also unclear whether Mattis plans to meet with troops based in San Diego County during his trip.
From San Diego, Mattis will travel to New Delhi, India, where he will join Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. They plan to meet with their counterparts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India and the Indian Ministry of Defense.
Mattis also plans to meet senior officials from the UAE in Abu Dhabi, according to the US Department of Defense.
This is the first visit of the Secretary of Defense of the United States to the port of San Diego and the first also to California so far this year.
