The press service of the Border Department of the FSB in the Sakhalin region reported that the decision of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk city court poaching fishing schooner “Ost-3” (under the flag of Tanzania, Africa) was confiscated to the state.

According to the press service of the Federal Security Service of the Federal Security Service, the captain of the vessel was fined for violating the rules of fishing (part 2 of article 8.37 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation). The court decision entered into force.

“The vessel was detained in January of the current year by Russian border guards during a joint military operation of the Frontier Directorate of the FSB in the Sakhalin Region and the Japan Coast Guard Administration of the 1st District. During the pursuit of the ship by the coast guard forces of Japan, the captain of the Ost-3 RSH made a decision to take refuge in Russian waters, ”the statement reads.

While attempting to cross the state border of the Russian Federation, Sakhalin border guards detained the ship and brought it to the port of Korsakov (south of Sakhalin) for investigation.

“By all indications, the fishing schooner” Ost-3 “was used in the implementation of the illegal unreported uncontrolled fishing of the crab in the exclusive economic zone of Japan and Russia,” the press service notes.
