It is Feared that a Greek Tanker Has Been Captured by Hijackers in the Gulf of Guinea

According to a statement from the crewing company Georgia, Black Sea. The tanker PANTELENA has been missing in the Gulf of Guinea since August 13 and all contact is reported to have been lost.

The crew consists of 17 Georgian citizens and 2 Russians. The tanker was heading from Lomé Togo to Gabon, Libreville, which is the last known location from about 2100 UTC on August 13 to 0032N 008 48E, about 40 nautical miles west of Libreville.

The tanker is deployed in the Gulf of Guinea trade, resulting in ports in coastal states such as Togo, Gabon, Nigeria, Liberia, and Ghana. Both owners and crew companies are afraid they have been captured by pirates.
