Investigators detained the owner of the boat station, where a catamaran came from the barge to the Volga waters, the press service of the Southern Investigation Department on transport of the TFR reported.
“Currently, the investigators detained the owner of the boat station, where the catamaran stood and went. According to the investigation, the 47-year-old CEO of Pristan Ltd. took no action to prevent the release of this small vessel into the water area of the Volga River, “the report said.
It is noted that the investigators also conduct a search in the home of the boatmaster of a small boat and other investigative actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
The investigation of the criminal case continues.
Earlier it was reported that 11 people were killed, five were rescued as a result of a catamaran collision with a barge on the Volga in Volgograd last night. On this fact, the Southern Investigation Department on the transport of the TFR initiated a criminal case under part 3 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of safety rules for water transport, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence).
The sunken catamaran was operated by the former head of the Kalachevsky district of the Volgograd region Dmitry Khakhalev. According to the results of the examination, in the blood of the captain of the vessel found alcohol at a concentration of 2.17 ppm, which corresponds to the average degree of alcoholic intoxication.
