Grandpa 73 Years Old Drowned While “snorkelling” in Costa Rica

The Red Cross continues searching for a teenager in Jaco Beach…

A 73-year-old man lost his life while enjoying the waters of Matapalito beach, in Guanacaste.

According to the authorities, the man practiced “snorkelling”, an activity similar to diving, in which the diver wears a mask and a tube to breathe through his mouth while enjoying the sea at a shallow depth.

Alexánder Morales, from the Red Cross communications centre, said that the accident alert was received at 1:15 p.m. this Sunday, but when the rescuers arrived, the man had died.

The name and nationality of the victim were not known, the OIJ of Liberia took charge of lifting the body.

They are looking for a teenager.

The Red Cross maintains the search for a 16-year-old teenager, who was dragged by the current at Jacó beach.

Morales added that the warning of this water accident was reported at 11:41 am, apparently, the victim was enjoying time with loved ones when the emergency occurred. The boy was identified as Kevin Argüello.
