Brazilian Navy is Training in Africa

The Oceanic Patrol Boat “Amazonas” participated in the multinational exercise “Obangame Express 2018”, carried out on the coast of Africa, and conducted by the Naval Forces of the African Command of the United States , between March 21 and 29.

The operation counted with the mobilization of troops from the African, American and European Marinas, totaling 31 countries, allowing the interoperability of participating nations in order to contribute to the increase of maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea.

Exercises against crime

The “Amazon” acted in the waters of the jurisdiction of Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo, conducting security exercises in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and combating piracy, armed robbery, illegal fishing, illicit trafficking in drugs and people. The “Obangame Express” provided to share with other Marines the doctrine and procedures adopted in Brazil, as well as the exchange of experiences in relation to the performance in international waters.

The Patrol Ship Oceanic (NPaOc) “Araguari”, subordinate to the Command of the Group of Naval Patrol of the Northeast, received, on May 9, students and teachers of the Municipal Schools Henrique Castriciano and Erivan France, both of Christmas.

The visit took place within the project “Platon of Citizenship and Juvenile Protagonism”, which aims to sensitize and train students of the municipal network of Natal-RN to act as multiplying agents in the development of educational actions.

In total, 51 students and seven teachers had the opportunity to learn about the routine on board and the missions carried out by the NpaOc “Araguari”, in addition to receiving information on the forms of entry into the Brazilian Navy. The “Peloton of Citizenship and Youth Protagonism” Project is developed by the Municipal Education Secretariat of Natal and has as supporters the Brazilian Navy and other public bodies.
