Are Contact Lenses a New Hazard to Our Sealife?

Contact lenses fall into the ocean and threaten marine life. We are being warned not to throw contact lenses into toilets and sinks.

A study conducted by Arizona State University stated that plastics end up in the treatment plants.

It then spreads as sewage sludge to the farmlands, and then when it is washed away by heavy rain, it ends up in the ocean.

About 14 billion contact lenses are thrown out in the United States, with about 200,000 kilograms of plastic waste per year.

This is yet another form of plastic that affects our environment.
