Two people died after yacht Solaris and speedboat TK 0393 collided in Black Sea near port of Kerch, Russia. The accident occurred during the night on 200 m from the shore but outside the port area. The both vessels remained afloat, but two people died and another eight were seriously injured. Among the injured passengers are two children. All were hospitalized for medical treatment. Specialists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for the Crimean Republic, employees of the State Mining Inspectorate of the Ministry of Emergency Measures of Russia, the police and the Prosecutor’s Office for Transport are working at the scene of the accident.
There is no report about oil leak and water pollution.
During the accident the yacht Solaris with eight people on board was approaching to the marina, but was slamed by speedboat TK 0393 with five people.
The investigation for the root cause of the accident is under way. The case is initiated according to part 3 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of safety rules for the movement and operation of maritime transport, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence). Preliminary examination showed that the speedboat master of the boat during the control was in a state of intoxication
The died passengers were two women, whose bodies were recovered from the water. All the injured people are in stable condition.
