Medical Evacuation Aboard the Fishing Vessel Peninsula 2 off Carteret

On Tuesday, 17 October 2017, around 9.30 am, the maritime prefecture of the English Channel and the North Sea was alerted by Jobourg’s Regional Operational Surveillance and Rescue Center (CROSS) that one of the ship’s crew members fishing Peninsula 2   has been injured by hand. The ship was then about 12 nautical miles (20 km) off Carteret.

Immediately, the CROSS Jobourg, after consulting the Maritime Medical Advisory Center (TMCC) in Toulouse and the Maritime Medical Coordination SAMU (SCMM) in Le Havre, which advocated a medical evacuation, engaged the Cayman helicopter of the French Navy stationed at Maupertus. Fishing Vessel Peninsula 2

At approximately 10:30 am, the helicopter took off towards the fishing vessel Presqu’île 2.

At 10:42, the wounded sailor was hoisted and transferred to the CHU of Caen where he was taken care of at 11:00.
