The newest frigate of the Russian Navy, Admiral Grigorovich, equipped with cruise missiles Caliber, on Monday, passing the Black Sea straits, entered the water area of the Mediterranean Sea. This was reported by local information portals, which publish photographs of his passage through the Bosporus.
As an informed source told Interfax, Frigate Admiral Grigorovich will head the permanent operational connection of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean. “Admiral Grigorovich” will replace as part of the Russian Mediterranean squadron “Admiral Essen”, which on September 22 returned to Sevastopol.
Earlier, the frigates “Admiral Grigorovich” and “Admiral Essen” took part in striking with cruise missiles “Caliber” for the purposes of the “Islamic State” (IG, banned in Russia) in Syria.
At present, the Russian Mediterranean squadron includes the frigate “Pytlivy” and the submarines Veliky Novgorod and Kolpino equipped with cruise missiles Caliber.
Last Friday, the submarine Veliky Novgorod struck Calibrov in the Syrian province of Idlib and destroyed important control points and other facilities of the terrorist group Jabhat an Nusra, banned in Russia.
As previously reported, earlier in September, large amphibious ships “Yamal”, “Azov” and “Caesar Kunikov” proceeded to the Mediterranean Sea, bound with cargo to Syria.
