Fire in the hold of a boat docked at the port of Tarragona

The ship was preparing to load coal. At four o’clock in the afternoon the fire has been extinguished

At 2:00 this afternoon a fire has been declared in the engine room of a ship docked at the Moll de Navarra in the port of Tarragona, according to sources have informed the Bombers of the Generalitat. According to them, the ship has no cargo and the fire would be confined in the hold. In the works of extinction four dozen of the Bombers of the Generalitat participate as well as others of the Parc Químic del Port.

The site has also come two boats Salvamento Marítimo: Salvamar Dipdhaand Punta Mayor. The Port has activated, in phase of alert, its Pla d’Autoprotecció.

Bay of Alcudia

The Bay of Alcudia is a Spanish-flagged vessel built in 2012. It is 125 meters long and before landing in Tarragona – it did so early this morning – came from Alcudía. According to the Port of Tarragona page, they have to load 9,200 tons of coals and petroleum coke and their destination is Alcudia.
