Superyacht Gora grounded in Leipsoi island, Greece

Gora yachtThe luxury superyacht Gora grounded at Lipsi port area in Leipsoi island, Greece. The Turkish-flagged yacht with 16 passengers on board hit a sandy shallow at the port water during maneuvering for berthing. According to preliminary information, the yacht did not suffered serious damages and was not breaches, but several attempts to refloat by own power failed. At the scene of the accident was dispatched a harbor tug, which should assist with towing to safe depth. All the passengers were evacuated during the salvage operations and the traffic at the port was hampered seriously. Fortunately during grounding there were no injured people and no oil spill.

The local authorities ordered special survey and inspection of the superyacht after refloating. The investigation for the root cause of grounding is under way.

The luxury superyacht Gora has overall length of 33.00 m, moulded beam of 9.00 m and maximum draft of 3.00 m. The gross tonnage of the yacht is 207 GRT.
