heavy lift vessel Elite Prosperity fireFire erupted on board of the heavy lift vessel Elite Prosperity at Sembcorp Marine’s Tuas Boulevard Yard, causing injuries to one firefighter and serious damages of the ship. The fire broke out in the engine room of the docked vessel, but fortunately during the accident on board there were no crew and workers on board. The authorities informed immediately the Singapore’s Civil Defence Force and at the scene were dispatched around 70 firefighters to the shipyard, as well as fire engines, red rhinos, support vehicles, other equipment and ambulances. The firefighters needed more than 7 hours to get the fire under control, pouring the vessel with water and battling it inside.

The operations at Sembcorp Marine’s Tuas Boulevard Yard were not affected by the fire. The company is working together with local authorities in investigation for the root cause of the fire. There is no report about water pollution after the accident.

The heavy lift vessel Elite Prosperity (IMO: 7386972) has overall length of 196.00 m and moulded beam of 46.00 m. The deadweight of the ship 55,517 DWT and the gross tonnage is 32,521 GRT. The vessel was built in 1976 in Navantia Cadiz in Spain. The ship is operating under the flag of Singapore.
