Container ship Annaba was fined for violations of pollution prevention regulations

The vessel was detained in Bremerhaven for pumping out of 20 cbm of bilge water in Baltic sea off Swedish coast. The vessel was detained on the next port and local authorities followed investigation for the spill. The vessel will remain in Bremerhaven until further inspection and special environment survey. The container ship Annaba is operated by German company Peter Doehle Schiffahrts, which was fined by 40,000 EUR for violation of pollution prevention regulations in Baltic Sea and International maritime law.

The Ukrainian Master, Polish Chief Engineer and Indian Second Engineer had to post a bail.The container ship Annaba was detained in Bremerhaven until further clearance of the situation and payment of the fine.

The container ship Annaba (IMO: 9306201) has overall length of 168.00 m, moulded beam of 26.00 m and maximum draft of 6.50 m. The deadweight of the vessel is 20,614 DWT and the gross tonnage is 15,487 GRT. The container ship Annaba was built in 2006 by Jiangshu Yangzijiang Shipyard in Jiangyin, China. The owner of the vessel is German company Annaba Schiffahrts GmbH c.o Peter Doehle Schiffahrts. During the accident the ship was en route to Germany.
