CMA CGM and Algerian shipping company CNAN Nord S.p.A. signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of transportation development in Algeria. The deal provides, launching a joint service that will link Algeria’s ports with the ports of Northern Europe, as well as giving the Algerian operator and container slots on CMA CGM ocean services. The deal is part from the expansion and development strategy of CMA CGM in Algeria, strengthening the positions in North Africa and Mediterranean Sea. The group is able to accompany the development of its local clients and new market growth, for both imports and exports, thanks to connections offered with France, Spain, Turkey, Egypt, and the Arabian Gulf. Calls offered in CMA CGM’s hubs connect Algeria to the entire world.
CMA CGM came into Algeria 20 years ago, and today the market is at the center of the Mediterranean operations. CMA CGM has ten agents across the country, operating five services calling at nine Algerian ports.
CMA CGM is a French container transportation and shipping company, which is world’s third largest operator, using 170 shipping routes between 400 ports in 150 different countries.
CNAN Nord S.p.A. is Algerian sea transport company, which operates a fleet of general cargo vessels, Ro-Ro vessels, bulk carriers, and passenger ferries. The company offers weekly departures from Antwerp to Algeria, and monthly departures from Hamburg and Bilbao. Its vessels are suitable for loading of general cargo, containers, and Ro-Ro and project cargoes.
