Cargo throughput of Port of Helsinki increased by 1.7% yoy in January-November 2016

Port of HelsinkiThe cargo throughput of Port of Helsinki in Finland increased by 1.7% in January-November 2016 compared to the same period last year, to 9.77 million tons. The volume of transshipment of bulk cargo increased by 6.2% to 0.91 million tonnes> The turnover of general cargo during reported period increased by 1.7% to 9.77 million tonnes, while imports totaled 4.64 million tons (+3.8%) and exports amounted to 5.13 million tons (-0.2%). The container turnover reached 415,140 TEU, which is 5.9% more than in January-November 2015, when were handled 392,000 TEU. Trucks and trailers transshipped through the port ramp 484,850 Units (+2%).

The linear transport of passengers increased by 3%, to 10.63 million people.

The Port of Helsinki in Finland is an international port, as the regular maritime traffic is from the ports of the North and Baltic Seas, as well as with the major port cities all over Europe. The cargo turnover in 2015 amounted to 11.41 million tons, container turnover was 430,430 TEU. The port is second largest in Finland and has important role in the trade of the country.
