Barge damaged after grounding on Yenisei River

barges convoySelf-propulsion cargo barge grounded and suffered water ingress on Yenisei River. The convoy of towing vessel Altai and cargo barges 1300 and N77 was proceeding through Kazachinsky strait en route from Krasnoyarsk to Tura, but barge 1300 left the fairway and grounded on a mud shallow from island islets. The accident caused damaged of the vessel’s bow and large hole below the water line. There was some water ingress, but barge remained afloat. The towing vessel and other barge were anchored near the accident site and performed salvage operation. The underwater damages were patches and the barge was refloated.

The grounded barge was loaded with building materials, technical cargo and one car. There is no report for water pollution and injured people. The convoy continued the voyage after refloating. The local authorities started investigation for the root cause of the accident.

The towing vessel Altai has overall length of 31.85 m, moulded beam of 7.20 m and maximum draft of 3.00 m.
