The American mid-tier offshore driller Atwood Oceanics was awarded with drilling services contract by Woodside Energy for the ultra-deepwater semi-submersible rig Atwood Osprey. The contract includes one-well drilling offshore Australia, which will commence on May 24, 2017. The duration of the agreement is estimated at 130 days with dayrate of 185,000 USD. The total backlog of the drilling services agreement amounts to 24 million USD. The new contract is important for the finance troubled drilling operator, which suffers from low liquidity and decreasing cash flows after the crisis in the offshore sector.
“One of its subsidiaries has agreed to a one-well drilling services contract with Woodside Energy Ltd for the ultra-deepwater rig, Atwood Osprey, offshore Australia”, says the official statement of Atwood Oceanics. “The contract will commence between May 24, 2017 and July 7, 2017 and has an estimated duration of approximately one hundred and thirty (130) days”, adds the statement.
